Job Description

Our client, located in Cambridge is a leader in the supply of custom automated manufacturing equipment for the Energy, Health Sciences, Transportation, Mining, Consumer, Industrial and Electronics industries.

As a Machine Builder you will work with the design team and project manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Machining blocks to specified lengths or shapes, using power saws, power shears, rules and various hand tools
  • Assemble parts or make repairs to automation, using various hand tools
  • Set up and operate drill presses to drill and tap holes in parts for assembly
  • Select metals to be used from a range of metals and alloys, based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerance
  • Setup and operate conventional lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes
  • Ability to products for Integration of main-assemblies and modify in-process tooling in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Able to use overhead cranes, forklifts and scissor lifts
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, bill of materials, machine-tool build assembly drawing Solid Works knowledge is an asset.
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools/ automation to ensure that parts meet specifications; and make adjustments if necessary
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators
  • Devise and detail assembly plans for the machine-tool build and integrator process and Automation
  • Assemble and integrate pneumatics and hydraulics, electrical components, power transmission systems, conveyor systems and feeder systems
  • Travel to customer sites for service and installation
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certificate of Qualification for a Machine Builder, Tool & Die or Millwright  
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • 5 years plus experience in a custom automation environment
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned
  • Must be available to work weekend and travel when required
  • Must have a valid Driver's license
  • Able to provide a MVR driving record
