Job Description

Protech Solutions is currently looking for a Quality management systems specialist to fill a position with one of our clients located near Halifax. Our client works in the manufacturing industry. The Quality Management System Specialist provides a key role in implementing a zero-defect culture within our client’s supply base, as well as supporting day to day operations for supplied product and services.

 

Responibilities

  • Conduct new candidate supplier assessments as well as periodic assessments for existing suppliers, in maintaining the approved supplier list.   Conduct supplier audits as needed to ensure capabilities and ensure suppliers meet our clients’ and its customers’ requirements.
  • Review flow down of Program Quality requirements and ensure that they are included in the requirement documents to suppliers.
  • Assist in the implementation of policies, procedures and standards for Supplier Management that drive a preventive, zero defect culture of quality, supplier excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Generate reports and analyze supplier performance data, the impact to site KPI’s (Supplier OTD, Supplier DPPM, etc.) and drive actions to improve those KPI’s.
  • Utilize Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Six Sigma and Lean Concepts to drive supplier improvements.
  • Develop and maintain incoming inspection criteria. Review and coordinate disposition of nonconforming material associated with Incoming Inspection and supplier driven defects.
  • Initiate and drive supplier corrective action requests (SCARs).   Train suppliers as required and ensure effective containment plans are defined and implemented, that the root cause corrective action (RCCA) is robust and effectively implemented in the timeframe required.
  • Review and disposition First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and ensure that product meets customer and program requirements.
  • Perform other Quality Engineering tasks as assigned to support the company.

 

Requirements
  • Engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in an equivalent role.
  • Knowledge of quality standards (ISO9001 / AS9100), including auditing experience.
  • In Depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience and/or training in Lean / Continuous Improvement.
  • Must be willing to travel as required (10%)

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Working knowledge and experience with SAP.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience and/or certification.
  • APQP, PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) experience.

 

Operational requirements:

 

  • Must be eligible for registration to the Controlled Goods Program.
  • Must be eligible to obtaining and maintaining the government of Canada’s “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
